Look Up Health Topics that Concerns You

One of the best resources on the internet for health topics is on the National Institutes of Health website for senior health. However, some of the interface can be confusing so if I were telling my successfully aging senior where to look, I would go directly to the source of the material: HERE.

Also, you can review health topics in your Magnus Health Portal account by accessing the Health Encyclopedia. The Magnus Health Encyclopedia is a full medical encyclopedia into our hosted website. This will allow MHT users to access certified healthcare information from the secure comfort of the site at any time.

Geriatric Medical Assessment

Getting a Geriatric Medical Assessment.

The Geriatric Medical Assessment, it may not sound exciting, but it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself and your loved one as you journey through the care helping process.

First, locate a physician that specializes in geriatric medicine and make an appointment for a full geriatric medical assessment.

What is a Geriatric Medical Assessment?

A geriatric medical assessment is a full assessment of an older person’s health, well-being, living situation, social and mental health. In many cases, a doctor can do a limited geriatric assessment which primarily focuses on medical issues and sometimes mental issues, but a full assessment uses an entire team of specialists (including any professionally licensed individual working with your loved one, for example, nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, physical therapist, occupational therapists, etc)

It can include a full physical, review of medications, a mental and cognitive evaluation, home evaluation, and social history assessment.

Then don't forget to upload the full Geriatric Medical Assessment to your Magnus Health Portal.
